GRIT is an artist interview zine about sustaining creativity.

I was fed up with the only creative industry conversations in magazines, books and podcasts being with people on the safe side of success. People who had recently accomplished a great deal. Mostly famous millionaires in studio arranged promotions for their nauseatingly expensive new projects. Their views were heavily influenced by their safety and harvest, and their advice often applied to industries that had long since evolved.

I craved talking to people who were buried deep in the creative trenches now, who didn’t know where they might wind up, if they would ever make a living wage, or whether their next theatre production would manage to shuffle in more audiences than its performers.

The interviews avoid success stories, presentationalism and branding and focus instead on raw honesty, encouraging advice and helpful insights on how to protect and nurture creativity in a world of rejections, comparisons and creative blocks.
